It is under local anaesthetic and scooped instrument called a curette is used to scrape the mole or lesion from the surface of the skin. Heat is then applied to the area to seal the area and stop bleeding (cauterisation).

Cryotherapy is likely to be unsuitable for cyst removal but could be used for small mole or lesion . The treatment uses liquid nitrogen which is applied to the area being treated to freeze it. Additional cryotherapy treatments may be for full removal but this will be reviewed after 6 weeks.
