Do’s
Book an assessment with your surgeon to talk about the various breast implants you can get.
Weigh the physical, financial, and emotional aspects before making a decision.
Keep a healthy weight, eat right, exercise, and sleep.
Have realistic expectations.
Be sure to have transport and care organised for the first hours.
Get your home ready and stock up with essentials.
Don’ts:
Do not smoke before and after your surgery.
Do not take any blood thinners or other prescribed medication.
Make sure to get enough sleep the night before your surgery.
Arrange for a ride home and assistance at the house during the first 1-2 days.
Rest and sleep well.
For decreased activity which tends to cause constipation, eat more raw fruits, and drink plenty of fluids.
Do not take aspirin or products containing aspirin unless your surgeon says it is okay.
Alcohol free for 3 weeks, alcohol is one cause of retaining water.
Resume iron containing vitamins as tolerated.
Do not smoke, because smoking delays and complicates healing.
To reduce swelling and decrease the risk of blood clots, it’s better to get up and walk as soon as possible.
You should not be driving until you are able to move your arms completely.
No exercise for 6 weeks.
Minimise arm use for 5 to 7 days.
No lifting overhead for two weeks.
Do not touch your breasts directly for 6 weeks.
Avoid contact sports for 6-8 weeks.
You can return to work 14 days later.
