Excess sweating, known as hyperhidrosis, is caused by the overactivity of sweat glands trying to control body temperature. Sweat reduction or hyperhidrosis is suitable for anyone wishing to decrease excessive sweating. Treatment is not suitable if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you are undergoing IVF treatment. We always discuss your medical history during your consultation.

Sweat reduction treatment works by using small amounts of botulinum toxin injected just into the skin where the sweat glands sit. These glands aren’t deep; they’re within the skin itself therefore the action is on the skin itself and not the underlying tissues..
The injections block the nerve signals that tell the sweat glands to produce sweat. Once those signals are blocked, the glands in that area simply stop overproducing. It’s a very targeted approach, which is why it’s especially effective for areas like the underarms, hands or feet. It only affects the treated area, so the rest of your body continues to regulate temperature as normal.
The sweat reduction treatment using anti-wrinkle injections is quick and straightforward. First, the skin is cooled (often with a cold compress) to make the area more comfortable. Then a series of very small injections is placed just under the skin using a fine needle. You may notice tiny raised bumps at each injection point. This is completely normal and shows the product has been delivered into the skin where the sweat glands are.
Most appointments take around 20 to 30 minutes, and is usually minimal and is often described as a small pinprick sensation. Afterwards, there’s little to no downtime. You can return to normal daily activities, with just a few short-term aftercare precautions.

You’ll usually start to notice results within a few days, with full effects developing over 1 to 2 weeks. The results aren’t permanent, but they are long-lasting, typically lasting around 4 to 7 months. To maintain the results, most people choose to repeat the treatment once or twice a year, depending on how their body responds.
